Panthera tigris tigris

The golden hue with dark stripes
Bewitched me as a child
Mesmerized by those eyes
Longed to see you in the wild
Panthera Tigris Tigris Tadoba beckons us

The jungle safaris five in all
Seemed adequate for a glimpse
At times you moved ahead
Sometimes you tracked us
Panthera Tigris Tigris you eluded us

Bumpety rides through core and buffer
Scores of birds few known some unknown
Herds of spotted deer
Pack of hunting dogs
Panthera Tigris Tigris you eluded us

Sambar deer, Neelgai
Threatening Action by a lone bison
An Unassuming herd grazing yonder
Fleeting glance of barking deer
Panthera Tigris Tigris you eluded us

We followed the pug marks
Heard the warning calls of a sambar
Watched in consternation
Alertness of the Chitals
Alas! Panthera Tigris Tigris you eluded us
